Message Will dictate where your vacuum reading will be. And if you have low vacuum, it doesn't mean you have a leak, but it can also be a gauge of the health of your engine. After all, and engine without gas and/or spark is a glorified air pump.

A leaking fuel component would not cause low vacuum. If it's pulling air from anywhere besides the intake throttle bodies then you will have low vacuum. That is, if your engine is in good shape.

How are you so sure you don't have a vacuum leak? The idle hunting around I would say is related to the vacuum issues. The leaky fuel components are not related unless it's somehow pulling false air not read by the MAF.
